About This Place

El Jarocho Seafood is a vibrant gem nestled on Ventura Avenue, delivering some of the most authentic Mexican and seafood cuisine Ventura has to offer. From the moment you step inside this charming, cozy eatery, you're welcomed by the warmth of a true neighborhood favorite, where handmade flavors and generous portions are the star of the show.

Renowned for its rich and varied menu, El Jarocho Seafood elevates traditional Mexican fare with a strong emphasis on fresh, ocean-to-table seafood delights. The array of seafood cocktails here is nothing short of spectacular, featuring plump shrimp and tender octopus simmered to perfection, and served with vibrant salsas bursting with freshness. Don’t miss their Aguachiles—a tangy, spicy ceviche-style dish that awakens your palate with zesty lime and fiery chile notes. The Mojarra Frita is a standout: a whole fried fish, perfectly crisped on the outside while succulent and moist inside, making every bite a satisfying experience.

For taco lovers, El Jarocho Seafood offers an impressive selection that ranges from classic carnitas and pastor tacos to expertly grilled fish and shrimp tacos that marry flaky seafood with bright, lively garnishes. Each taco is a mini celebration of traditional flavors, enhanced with homemade salsas that add layers of mild heat and smoky depth—like the unforgettable salsa topped with sesame seeds, a customer favorite that gently lingers on your taste buds.

Breakfast at El Jarocho is equally unforgettable. Start your day with savory favorites like Huevos Rancheros or chorizo-laden Huevos con chorizo, where eggs marry bold Mexican spices, all served alongside melts-in-your-mouth tortillas and savory sides. The hearty breakfast burritos are a comforting embrace of potatoes, eggs, cheese, and your choice of meats like bacon or sausage, providing a flavorful jumpstart to your morning.

The atmosphere inside is intimate and unpretentious—a classic small “hole-in-the-wall” setup with limited indoor seating complemented by inviting outdoor spots perfect for savoring meals under warm Ventura skies. The friendly service, led by Daniel and his team, reflects the care woven into each dish, making every meal feel like a lovingly prepared offering at a friend’s home. Whether you’re sitting inside or enjoying the fresh air outside, the experience feels warm and welcoming.

Customers repeatedly highlight the heartfelt, homemade quality in every bite. Salvatore raves about the “care and deliciousness” that tastes homemade, while Rosie marvels at the hearty seafood that truly evokes the feeling of eating in someone’s home. Anthony praises the value and generous portions, calling it one of the best authentic Mexican spots in Ventura. Whether it’s breakfast or dinner, Steven finds them worth the visit, and Jesse’s enjoyment of the mixed ceviche and shrimp cocktail perfectly captures the abundance and flavor that define El Jarocho Seafood.

In short, El Jarocho Seafood is a must-visit for anyone craving genuine Mexican and seafood dishes crafted with passion. It’s a memorable culinary journey that brings the vibrant flavors of Mexican coastal cuisine to Ventura—rich, flavorful, and made with unmistakable heart.

Enjoyed a good breakfast of huevos rancheros, this is a small hole in the wall eatery on Ventura Ave, limited seating, worth the visit for a great meal.

The moment we entered we were greeted by the cashier, helpful and courtious. This place is pretty cozy inside with outside seating as well, which is where we decided to sit. We ordered the mixed seafood ceviche, and the shrimp cocktail with mixed seafood, both were absolutely delicious, my gf shrimp cocktail had A LOT of shrimp, so much that she decided to take it home because she got full. They are also very generous with there avocado! Mid-way through our meal the Chef came out and asked how our food was, doesn't get any better than this! We will definitely be back.

The food is amazing and also the people are very nice, price is reasonable but my favorite part about this place is that it's a family owned restaurant
